Fifth Estate 15th Anniversary Awards 2006
Sarah Gillam, FARM-Africa's Press Manager since 2003, won the PR on a Shoestring category at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations' Fifth Estate 15th Anniversary Awards 2006 for her coverage gained around the launch of FARM-Africa's policy document 'Reaching the Poor: A call to action'. This urged governments to increase public expenditure on agriculture as a way of kick-starting activities across the rural economy, following nearly twenty years of declining donor support. Sarah's effective coverage of the 2005 MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY campaign was also included in the submission.
