Fundraising Tips
Our top fundraising tips are below, but these are just for starters…you can also download your very own online fundraising pack, which contains all the fundraising information you will need. If you would like any further information or assistance then don’t hesitate to get in contact by emailing SST@farmafrica.org.uk or calling us on 020 7430 0440.
Set up your online fundraising page
By creating your own online sponsorship page, you won’t have to spend so much time dealing with cash and cheques and sponsorship forms, so you’ll have much more time to plan your challenge and fundraising events.
Email the link to your page to all your family, friends and colleagues and get them to donate quickly and easily online with a credit or debit card.
Just go to http://www.justgiving.com/farmafrica/raisemoney and click ‘create your page’
| Top Tip – get a generous friend to be your first sponsor, as people tend to follow the amount put down by others. |
General Fundraising tips
- Use social media to assist your fundraising. Let your Facebook friends and Twitter followers know about your challenge and ask them to sponsor you! You could even set up your own blog/online diary to keep your friends, family and colleagues informed of your training and sponsorship progress!
- Set yourself a target and then start thinking about how you are going to reach your goal. Start your fundraising as soon as possible – the more time you allow yourself, the more people you can reach and the more funds you can raise.
- Go contact crazy and make a list of friends, family, neighbours, and colleagues who may potentially support you.
- Try to involve your colleagues. Ask them to sponsor you or take part in your events. Visit our fundraise at work page for more ideas and inspiration.
Publicity
- Let your local paper know what you are doing and why you are supporting FARM-Africa. Before you contact the press, talk to FARM-Africa’s Communications Manager, who can help you to write a press release and give you some tips to get coverage. (Email: press@farmafrica.org.uk; Telephone: 020 7067 1252)
- We can provide you with FARM-Africa posters, stickers and newsletters to display at your events or in your local area.
